What to Do When There are NO Limits to Russia/Trump Investigation?
While liberals are pressuring Congress to “do something” about President Trump, it may be time for his patriotic supporters to begin demanding that they “do something” about this lawless Special Counsel witch hunt developing before our eyes.
If you remember correctly, this investigation was supposed to be an inquiry into Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election. It has since broadened to include President Trump’s supposed obstruction of justice, a meeting his son took with a Russian lawyer, and now, apparently, it will expand all the way into Trump’s tax returns and his business dealings over the past decade. It has ensnared Paul Manafort, Jared Kushner, Donald Trump Jr., and the list will probably be unreadably long by the time Mueller is done dragging reputations through the dirt.
And all for what? To what end? To prove that Trump colluded with Vladimir Putin to change the outcome of the 2016 election? How does Trump’s 2013 Miss USA pageant play into that charge, exactly…?
We should not forget that this is a CRIMINAL investigation. It isn’t supposed to be an opposition research endeavor, out to find any and all dirt that the Democrats can use in their campaign commercials heading into the next election. It isn’t supposed to be a political inquiry at all. Is Mueller going to keep looking and looking until he finds something? Gee, the Democrats cried bloody murder about that when the investigator was Kenneth Starr. Apparently they see things differently these days.
The insidious truth about this investigation is that it has no particular endpoint. It’s so broad that it theoretically allows the FBI to keep hunting and hunting, all the while leaking tidbits of information to a hungry press. It thus has the effect of weakening the president’s ability to govern, and – hopefully, if you’re a Democrat – eroding his Republican base of support little by little.
It seems to escape the attention of so many liberals, desperate to see Trump go down in flames, that this has NOTHING to do with the FBI’s actual job. But the media has painted the Justice Department into such a difficult corner that everyone feels powerless to do anything about it. Even Republicans are warning Trump that he is not to even THINK about firing Mueller, regardless of how out-of-bounds his activities become.
Good to know the party has the president’s back, as per usual.
