White House Takes Shot at Republican Candidates
On Monday, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest criticized the Republican presidential candidates for their behavior on the trail.
“We’ve on a number of occasions had an opportunity to express our significant concerns with some of the divisive rhetoric that has been uttered on the campaign trail — not just by Mr. Trump but by a variety of Republican candidates for president,” said Earnest. “Many of those declarative statements are in direct conflict with basic American values, the kinds of values that were critical to the founding of this nation and values that have long been cherished by generations of America.”
Can you imagine the gall it takes for a member of the Obama administration to lecture Republicans on “divisive rhetoric?” Obama’s entire tenure in the White House has been characterized by divisive rhetoric! The Democratic Party has been built on divisive rhetoric! If it wasn’t for divisive rhetoric, the party wouldn’t exist. Or if it did, it wouldn’t much resemble the party it is today. The only way Democrats can win elections is to pit poor people against the rich, minorities against whites, and women against men.
“The leaders of other countries are watching. The populations of other countries are watching,” Earnest said. “And part of a presidential campaign is to demonstrate to the American people, who ultimately will be doing the choosing here, that you have the aptitude to lead the country, and that means being a faithful messenger when it comes to articulating the values of the country.”
Earnest didn’t go into specifics, but you can fill in the blanks. He’s talking about Donald Trump and the Mexican wall, the Muslim ban, and so on. And yes, there’s no doubt that foreign leaders are getting nervous. Obama’s agenda has been one of weakness and submission. One that puts the needs of both our allies and our enemies above those of the American people. The first year of his presidency was basically an apology tour, where he went around to all of these leaders and promised that the U.S. would no longer be the world’s leader.
But what upsets the Democrats even more is that Trump won’t adhere to the artificial boundaries of acceptable speech that liberals have carefully constructed for the last couple of decades. After years of telling us that terms like “Islamic terrorism” and “illegal immigration” and “anchor babies” are racist, Trump comes in and blasts it all away. Even worse, he’s attracted the support of millions of Americans who are sick and tired of the liberal media telling them that the way they live and talk in their everyday lives is wrong. That they are bad people for thinking a certain way. That their cultural symbols are disgusting and obsolete.
Democrats from Obama on down are suddenly realizing that not everyone was on board with their PC revolution. Many Americans, it seems, were just waiting for someone brave enough to push back.
