According to prominent black conservative pundit/activist Candace Owens, the #WalkAway movement may only be the beginning when it comes to the woes of the Democratic Party. Owens believes that a new phenomenon is getting ready to strip the party of their most concrete base of support: Black Americans. And in an op-ed for Breitbart, she explained why BLEXIT is about to take off in a way that shocks and dismays the Democratic Party establishment.
From Owens, writing for Breitbart:
Across America, black people are beginning to question political orthodoxy. We have been quietly building an ecosystem of free thinkers and at long last, the intellectual dam is breaking.
This unique moment will come to be known as BLEXIT: the black exit from the Democrat party.
For decades, the black community has been in an emotionally abusive relationship with the Democrat Party. Our fidelity to leftist politicians coupled with our false belief that a larger government might facilitate solutions, has led to the overall collapse of our families, neighborhoods, and incidentally, our futures.
BLEXIT is a national movement of minorities that have awakened to the truth. It is for those who have taken an objective look at our decades-long allegiance to the left and asked ourselves “what do we have to show for it?”
Owens is not alone in predicting a massive black walkout from the Democratic Party. In fact, the numbers suggest black disillusionment has already taken a toll. Approximately 4.4 million voters who pulled the lever for Barack Obama in 2012 simply stayed home in 2016. The New York Times found that 36% of those voters were black. Overall, black turnout fell seven percent in the last election, indicating that black voters are getting sick of the Democrats taking their vote for granted.
This doesn’t necessarily indicate the kind of political transformation that Owens believes might be on the horizon, but there are other signs that a true BLEXIT could soon transpire. Trump himself has doubled his black support since election day. Kanye West’s embrace of the president and the MAGA movement has been met with mockery and revulsion by the left…but don’t doubt for a moment that many of his black fans are listening to what he has to say. Not all of them will follow West and take the red pill, but you can bet that many of them are contemplating it.
That’s the last thing the Democratic Party wants: A black electorate that starts asking the question, “Yeah, but really, what HAVE you guys done for us?”
The answers to that question are not pretty. And once enough people start asking, a BLEXIT is all but assured. Trump is well-positioned to bring those displaced voters into the fold and make a dent in the Democratic Party from which they may never recover.
